Hair dye.

Question Posted Thursday May 17 2007, 3:58 pm

I dyed my hair about a week ago with semi-permenant hair dye. It's a deep burgandy color. And my natural hair is jet black. Well, this weekend, or sometime next week, I'm going to dye my hair blue and pink, and I need to get this burgandy out. Some of my friends said to put ?tooth paste? in my hair..and then wash it...to get the color out. and someone else said to use dawn in it. can i use those without it doing anything to my hair? and is there anything else i can do to get the color out? oh, and i can't bleach it.

Nope. Nothing.

You'd have to go to a salon and let a stylist (expert) to use a stripper to get it out. Expensive and damaging too.

Wait it out. You made your bed, now lay in it. Nothing will get the color out any sooner than time.

If you want to be kind to your hair, always wait AT LEAST three weeks between dye jobs.

Actually, waiting three weeks is just a generally good idea to keep the different dyes from reacting with eachother and turning a much different colour then what you would like. (I had a friend go bright green once, I thought it was funny, she didn't.)

Washing your hair daily in piping hot water will help the dye fade quicker, anything else you try will almost certainly damage your hair even more and don't be too surprised if your hair dye doesn't turn out quite the colour you want if you re-dye so soon.

If you don't want your hair to fall out, then I honestly suggest to quit the dying! Especially, if you are doing it yourself. You need to give your scalp time because off those chemicals can do some serious damage later on down the line. I have some family and friends that have a couple of salons and that they are constantly having to cut people's hair and spend hours and several treatments to fix the problems due to dying their hair too much. Dye washes out over time with regular shampoo and water. You need to try and use a very mild shampoo and wash your hair everyday until some of that color comes out on it's own. But with all that washing of your hair, you are gonna need to replenish your scalp with some hair treatments like hot oil or whatever you may already use to strengthen the hair (cuz it's not good to wash it everyday either). I know that you may want it to be one of those dramatic colors soon but I'm sure you don't want to risk losing some of your hair or the quality of it, later on... good luck and let me know how it goes! :)
