It is possible, but highly unlikely.

Herpes is the most possible to contract without sexual contact. You can contract it through kissing someone with a cold sore or even sharing a towel with someone with genital herpes, or sitting on a toilet seat where someone else sat with an open sore.

I answered a question kind of like this on my column and I gave a whole list of how you can contract the disease. If you need more, you look there.

I hope this helped!

Razhie answered Sunday May 13 2007, 12:28 pm:
Well, it is in fact possible. There are some viruses, like the herpes virus, that can infect other parts of the body, and many STD's like HIV, can be transmitted through blood as well as semen.

You can't get them by sitting on a public toilet, or by sharing a soda with an infected someone.

So it is technically possible, just really unlikely, to be exposed to an STD without having sex.

If you have never been sexually active, not that possible. You can get it from kissing or from being in physical contact but it's pretty unlikely.
