So when I was 13 in the summer at a wedding reception, I ended up chugging about 2 glasses of red wine (and some champagne) and well after a little while I remember feeling severely depressed (I have depression, but it was unlike anything else) and I was running into the bathroom every 2 seconds because i was about to cry.
That night after it I couldn't stop crying from midnight-3 am, and i was shaking and breathing really fast and i really was so suicidal i was honestly about to do it right then and there. It was so weird.
Was this just the effects of the red wine that i was feeling? Because it seems like that wasn't enough alcohol to actually feel the effects of it.
Also- I used to drink about 3 sips of red wine a day for about a week- and I would always get hangovers every morning so I'd have to go and drink some then... But why was i getting hangovers from just 3 sips?
Or, like you said, you already ahve depression. Are you taking any anti depressants or other drugs? Pills mixed with alcohol can lead to some serious and unwanted side effects.
But a few sips of wine shouldn't do anything, unless if you lack the enzyme to break down alcohol, which is common in asians, particularly Japanese(not intending to be racist). If you do lack that enzyme, it could explain for your hang overs. I'd recommend you don't drink any more alcohol.

Most hangovers are caused by dehydration, because alcohol deprives the brain of water. If you ever drink alcohol you should make sure to drink lots of water, and that'll help reduce the effects of it. [ spacefem's advice column | Ask spacefem A Question ]

Some factors include how much they drink, how fast they drink, how much they weight, what their gender is, if they have eaten before, if the use of other drugs is involved, how they feel, how old they are, etc.
Alcohol is basically a drug in beverages and red wine has alcohol in it. Alcohol acts as a depressant and it also distorts and slows your reaction and thinking.
Since you're not that old and you're a girl and you have depression, the effects of alcohol will be much more strong on you than it would be on a grown adult. And if it's in your genes for you to not be able to handle alcohol well, that could be why. I know that my mom can't drink alcohol at all or she'll get a nasty hangover and be sick for at least a week.
varsity_prep_xo answered Sunday May 13 2007, 10:43 am: alcohol can have different effects on people, and they ar e more severe for younger/smaller people.. so since you are only thirteen, and already have depression, and alcohol can cause feelings of depression, that't probably why you felt so bad that night. so i think it just was the effects of the red wine you were drinking and nothing more. ...and if you were only drinking like 3 sips a day, you were probably dehydrated or didn't eat much during that time... and since you used red wine to relieve your hangover that would continue it another day. darker alcohols cause worse hangovers than lighter ones... so yeah. i wouldn't drink til you're a little older because it seems to have a worse affect on you than most.
