About a week ago i got a new kitten and it is only about 3-4 weeks old well this kitten has a stuffy nose, sneezes all the time and its eyes get really watery so they get crusty and she cant open them. She eats and drinks (alot) goes to the bathroom normal sleeps, and plays all the time. I called the vet and they said all i need to do is just keep washing her face. For a couple of days she started getting better and then it started to get hot and yucky out and now she is getting really bad again. I just want to know if she is going to be ok and if there is anything i can do besides taking her to the vet. If I have to i will but i want that to be the last thing i do because it is so expensive. If you know anything please let me know. THANK you .

I understand about costs, but that really does need to be factored when you decide to get an animal.
Cat flu is not like our flu and she would need antibiotics to recover fully. Not having the correct medication can cause her to appear to get better only to become ill again. She would also need eye cream otherwise her eyes could get ulcerated which then damages the sight.
Once a cat has had cat flu, it can rear up again at any time, usually if the cat is traumatised or something else attacks its immune system.
I'm not saying it is definitely cat flu, it may soemthing like hayfever, only a vet would be able to diagnose correctly, but if it is this, it is highly contagious to other cats and can make them feel quite horrible. Is it worth the risk? [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
AskJR answered Saturday May 12 2007, 11:03 am: She has allergies. It could be the area you live in.
Animals are as prone to seasonal allergies, and also environmental allergies as people.
Ask the vet if Benedryl can be used on a kitten that age, and the dosage amount. Dogs can take Benefryl (I don't know about cats, let alone kittens) for allergies.
If all else, take the kitten TO THE VET'S and voice your concerns about allergies.
It might be the kitten food you feed her. A food allergy. Try a better and healthier brand of kitten food for sensitive and allergy-prone cats.
ThatsMagic answered Saturday May 12 2007, 9:11 am: i have two kittens, one had the same problem, besides taking to the vet you can try getting a piece of kitchen towel or a tissue (non perfumed) and put a dribble of water on it wipeing its eyes and nose once or twice a day. All so make your your feeding it clean water regualry. I would leave it a few days and then take it to the vet. it might be a cold or something serious you cant really tell. just show your kitten to an expert
