I just wash it off (incase theres dirt), stab it with a fork all around a few times to let the inside bake, then pop it in the microwave for 3 minutes. Maybe stop it half way through to flip it over. Take it out and poke around if theres any hard spots left. It there is, stab it with a fork in that stop and put it in for another minute or 2. That is Katie style cooking. Hah hope this helped. LM answered Thursday May 10 2007, 8:06 pm: Depends on the potato and how it's being baked, etc. I say about 45 minutes, but if you microwave them first for abut five minutes, it's shortened to about 20 minutes but doesn't TASTE microwaved.
Baked potatoes are hard to screw up, thankfully. Take the biggest one out (if you're cooking more than one) and poke it. If the middle is soft, it's done! If it's hard to poke with a fork, toss it back in for a few more minutes. They're also nearly impossible to overrcook. You can't go wrong!
