Our math teacher grades REALLY hard. I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but there are only 3 questions on the assignment, so if I get one wrong that's automatically a 66%. I know this sounds really stupid, but can you guys check to make sure I'm right on this problem?
In an experiment, the probability of picking a red cube out of a bag is 1. Which of the following describes a probability of 1?
Certain
Likely
Not likely
Impossible
I think the answer is either certain or likely, which one do you think is right? Thank you.
ASAPcamille answered Thursday May 10 2007, 6:20 pm: Certain, because 1 equals 100 percent. It isnt only just likely you will pick it, it is GOING to happen...certain:]
theymos answered Thursday May 10 2007, 6:18 pm: Certain. 1 is short for 1/1, so for every 1 random draw, one red cube is chosen, and no cubes of any other color(the bag is full of only red cubes.
When they say just one number, it is short for that number over one. So a probably of .5 would be .5/1(2 random draws=1 more red cube and one of a different color). [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]
