does anyone know of any really good art schools on the east coast? i'm a junior this year but i have to get my applications and start on them before too long.

i'm not sure if you mean visual art or performing arts, but I know of 3 amazing schools that have very strong programs in all the arts.

Interlochen Arts Academy, Walnut Hill School of the Arts, and Idyllwild Arts Academy.

I have visited 2 of the 3, and they were very good.

google the above schools and look through their websites.

see which one is closest to you, go visit it, and apply.
