LM answered Monday May 7 2007, 6:23 pm: Migranes absolutely suck. Trust me, I know.
How many different OTC meds have you tried? You'll need to experiment to find what works best for you. Tylenol, for example, does nothing for me, but Motrin works within minutes. Also, experiment with dosages, frequency, etc. YOu can safely take about 600mg (as opposed to the prescribed 400) if you have a particularly aggressive headache. Just be careful and follow the "no more than X amount of pills in 24 hrs" and you'll be fine.
As for natural remedies, figure out what your triggers are. Chocolate, dairy, sugar, and flourescent lights are common ones. You might already be familiar with the term, if not- getting a headsplitting migrane following eating a three scoop Death By Chocolate cone at Friendlys = chocolate is likely a trigger for you. The advice here is straightforward- avoid your triggers once you know them.
Packing my head in ice packs works well for me. It'll make you really cold, though (obviously) so get a nice blanket ready. Also, taking a short nap, staying hydrated, aromatherapy, and music can help ease migranes too.
Lastly, computer screens often aggrevate migranes. So avoid them if you can, or reduce the brightness if you can't get away.

Lay in the dark. Take a nap. Don't move too much. Don't have any type of lights on, and try to be in a very quiet, comfortable place.
Other than that, I can't really do much for you. Even though you don't like medicines, try Excedrine Migraine. It has a really powerful formula that's made for what you're dealing with, and they work rather well. My brother loves them. [ christina's advice column | Ask christina A Question ]

Other than that, try sitting with an icepack on your forehead for a while, and massage your temples. Lay in the dark and relax. Those are the best non-medicinal remedies i can think of [ contradictionn's advice column | Ask contradictionn A Question ]
