Our new neighbors just came yesterday! I was excited because I thought there would be kids and that I could hang around with (considering that the only kids in my neighbor hood are 19+)
Well I was playing fetch with my dog in the lawn this morning and they came! they have 2 dogs so my dog went crazy and ran after them. I went to go get my dog and I met the lady. She has a 4 month son and she asked me if I was interested in babysitting him. I agreed because i could really use the money.
problem?? I'VE NEVER BABYSAT IN MY LIFE!!!
I'm so nervous now! we haven't scheduled a day yet but i'm asking you people here for advice.
What am I supposed to do with a 4 month boy? Do I just feed him and then watch TV or something??
please help! I'm not so good with kids but i would REALLY like to start babysitting. soo how do i do it??
ryanrossluvsme answered Friday May 11 2007, 3:06 pm: Basicly. Just feed him if he's hungry. (Ask his mom if he takes formula.) Then he'll probably sleep most of the time. If you want to get better, take some classes. They have them at libraries and red cross. After the baby eats, lay him on your shoulder and burp him. If he is asleep, you can watch TV. Actually, you can watch TV while the baby is awake, as long as the volume isn't too loud, and he has something to do. However, NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF HIM.
Don't worry about it, everything will be fine. The parents will tell you what to do, and where everthing you need is. They will inform you about EVERYTHING, so try not to freak out. GOOD LUCK! I hope I helped. [ jelly001's advice column | Ask jelly001 A Question ]
acetrace92 answered Sunday May 6 2007, 9:22 pm: You have to think hard about this one. Im 15 and its hard for ME to take care of an infant. 14 may be a little young, but if you have to decide if you are responsible enough to do this. If you decide you think you should wait a few years until you are old enough, just nicely tell the woman that you think you should wait until you have taken a baby sitting course or had some sort of training. Until you do that, you could be a mother's helper, so that while the mom is home you can watch the baby and play with it, but still ask questions if you need to. If you DO think you are ready now to take care of an infant, make sure you read up on things like high chairs, daiper changing, excessive crying, and things like that. Make sure you are ready before hand, because you wouldnt want to be stuck with a crying baby and be crying yourself. Be careful!!! Good Luck with your job! BlahBlahBlah answered Sunday May 6 2007, 9:20 pm: Well since he is only 4 months old...the only thing you could really do with him is hold him...maybe bounce him and tickle him, and talk to him in like a baby voice. He will probably end up going to sleep early...in which case you can just watch TV, or read a book or something.
