diet pills

Question Posted Thursday April 26 2007, 1:55 pm

Sorry if this isn't the right catergory....
I'm an 18 year old female. I've been on and off dieting for a few years now and nothing seems to be working the way I'd like it too. I lost elevn pounds last summer but I gained it all back as soon as School started again. I've been considering diet pills and since I'm old enough to buy them now, I think I'm gonna try them. I have afew questions though.
1.) Can anyone tell me the risks involved?
2.) I heard that once you stop using them, you gain all the weight back, but if I work ahrd enough, will the weight stay off?
3.) What would be the best and most effective for me?
Any help would be much appreciated.

yep, keep taking those diet pills and it will work for you. You will become skinny. And if you stop, the weight will come back, and it won't come back as muscle(which you will lose through diet pills) it will come back in the form of glycerol, also known as fat.

Ironic that you mentioned "if i WORK HARD ENOUGH"
when you're talking about diet pills, which is the lazy, stupid, and unhealthy way to lose weight.

If you're willing to work hard when it comes to losing weight, have you considered exercising?

8 small meals a day, 2 miles of jogging, a hundred or so sit ups will make you lose weight, tone your body, which is really sexy(which is one thing diets and diet pills can NEVER do), make you healthier, and possibly increase your self esteem.

oh and did I mention that running two miles a day followed by a few hundred situps shouldn't take more than half an hour? Unless of course you run slow, but if you work your way up and push yourself, you should be able to run 2 miles in a short amount of time over just a few months.

EDIT: Sorry for being rude, you came off as the desperate type of girl who just wanted to be thin no matter the cost. By the way, diet pills and exercise aren't a good combination(you'll kill yourself). You'd be better off doing one or the other. I recommend exercise.

I'm not sure how effective diet pills are but please do bare in mind if diet pills really did work there would be no overweight people in the world at all. It is something you have to remember. Simply taking a tablet will not help and since there are so many variations they all come with theirown way to take them, theirown side effects etc.

First thing you have to remember about dieting is that once you do lose weight you can easily gain in back by letting go again. It doesn't work this way. The idea is to get into a healthy routine and to stick with it. Obviously you can spoil yourself every so often but the key is not to overdo that.

1. Risks are various but most common I know about are dependancy. However every variation come with their own side effects so I strongly advise you speak to someone either in the store before purchasing your chosen ones or reading the instructions you get with them very carefully. Also, before you undertake any kind of diet you should normally consult your family doctor - if you are going to be using tablets then I strongly advise you do this as well.

2. This can happen whether you use tablets or not. If you suddenly stop your routine you will gain the weight back because you suddenly got lazy and such. This all comes down to how your body works so again, this is something you should bring up with your doctor.

3. This all depends on the tablets you choose and buy. Some accelerate the digestive process whereas others claim to burn your stored energy off (fat). Depending on which you choose you should start off with eating healthy (joining a reputable gym and then speaking to the staff there about a consultatiopn would be VERY good way to do this). They will be able to advise you on what kind of foods to eat and what to avoid (basicly the idea is to reduce fat intake and stop the unhealthy snacking) but also exercise. This is where the gym membership will pay off - they will show you what machines you need to use and how often so you work on the parts of your body which need work.

Overall I think as long as you are wanting to lose weight for yourself then by all means do so (it was why I started because I wasn't happy with how I am). But do it in a safe way. Last thing you want to do is end up causing your body more harm than good. Speak to your doctor as well as get all the professional advice you can and then go with what you feel right.

did you ever consider seeing a dietitian...they'll help you set up a meal plan and and exercise plan and help you lose weight healthily...don't do what the joujou person said...eating junk on the weekends will not help a thing...you'll gain the weight you lost during the week on the weekend and start back to square one. There also might be a medical condition as to why you can't lose weight like PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome) talk to your doctor before starting a diet regime. Diet pills are the biggest hoax in the world...they load capsules with caffeine and stuff and make you think that your losing weight..the weight you lose you will gain back right after you quit them and will possibly gain even more weight...do it the healthy way

Diet pills work & fast, but they're not healthy for you at all. They make you lose an excessive amount of weight in a short period of time, and it's true. If you stop using them, you'll gain all the weight back. I would just lose the weight healthily. It's more work, but it's better for you.
