ScratchesOnTheWall answered Thursday April 26 2007, 5:03 am: Actually, just to be pendantic, 'Great Britain' doesn't include Ireland. It includes England, Scotland and Wales and several small islands around it but not Ireland, the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
It's only when we talk about the 'United Kingdom' that Ireland is included (and even then only Northern Ireland- the rest of the land mass is called Eire and is counted alone.)
alisonmarie answered Thursday April 26 2007, 4:32 am: England is a country, yes. It's also part of Great Britain, which is four countries very geographically close to each other. These are England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. [ alisonmarie's advice column | Ask alisonmarie A Question ]
