The "scene" look is really stupid, and you should be stoned for asking this question. However, since it is 2007, you shall not be stoned, but harassed OTI for it.

I am really and truly not trying to be rude with this answer.
But if you have to ask this question, then you really shouldn't even bother. You'll end up looking like a poseur. You're supposed to dress for YOURSELF, not for other people. If all you're concerned about is looking "cool" & "scene", then you've really missed the entire point of indie music (which is, btw, where the whole "scene" look evolved from. And by "indie", I do not mean Good Charlotte, etc.).

my friends who are scene shop at hottopic (one works there) and forever 21. it's not like prep where as long as you get everything at a&f you're fine, you have to really look and find things to create the style. <3

As a joke, I once described being "scene" as a found art.
If you're trying - it's not even worth it.
Go anywhere.
Find anything.
If it's black.
Or bright.
Or it looks like a little kid would wear it.
You're golden.
And there's no such thing as a "cute" store. You've got "obnoxious" or "sufficient" or "this place effing blows."
