Razr v3 problems...water damage

Question Posted Saturday April 21 2007, 6:35 pm

I have a Razr v3 and T-Mobile. This morning, it accidentally ran through the wash and it doesn't work anymore. The little circle that shows if it has water damage is red. Will T-Mobile let me get it replaced for a new Razr v3?

I did the exact same thing to my phone a couple of days ago. I thought the water messed it up (because it wouldn't turn on), but my friend has the same phone, and I took their battery and sim card to see if the actual phone still worked, and it did. It may just be the sim card or the battery that is messed up. I'm guessing that since you said that the circle was red that means your sim card is messed up? I know that if you have water damage to your phone and you want to switch it out for a new one that they will charge you full price for the new phone, or give you one at a discounted price only if you sign a new contract. Your best bet may be to get a new sim card (assuming that yours is messed up) and see if your current phone will work with that. If not, try e-bay or a flea market. They may have the exact same phone at a cheaper price. Just make sure it's unlocked before you buy it. I hope this helps and good luck! <3 Dana

Tell them something like you left it in your pocket and it rained and now its not working.
or that you left it in the car while you went to the grocery store.

I accidently ran my ipod through the washer/dryer because it was in my pocket, and apple replaced it for me:)

well i don't think so. Most phones (if not all) have warranty but it's a manufacturer's defect warranty. Running it through water...whether or not ur fault kinda doesn't include. u shuld still check the warranty type though.

If it's still under the warranty, and you have insurance on your phone, then chances are they will give you a new phone. If not, you might have to buy a new one. But since I'm not a worker for TMobile [or any type of company at that since I'm jobless], I couldn't tell you for sure. You would need to take that up with a TMobile employee. Preferably one who works at the store you bought it from.

most likely, no. i'm sorry. i have cingular and the same thing happened to me with my v3 last september. i called to see if they would replace it under warranty, but water damage violates the warranty. because they will replace it if the phone is messed up due to a factory problem. however, if you sent your phone through the wash, they won't replace it. it sucks. but that's what the little dot is for: so that they can tell if it has water damage or not, and whether or not to replace it. however, this is a pretty slim chance, but take your phone apart (like take out the battery and sim card) and leave it out for a few days. then put it back together and see if it works. mine didn't work, but some of my friends phones have in the past after they had water damage. but, here's the bright side: even though you can't get one from t-mobile, you can get a phone off of ebay for half the price of a brand new one. because you would just want the phone, not a new contract. anyway, it sucks, but that's all you can do for your phone.
