well i have 2 questions
1. i've been blowing my nose like crazy and now the bottom of my nostrils are really sore and raw, what can i put on it to make feel not as sore?
2. today and tomorrow are TAKS days, i keep so i have 2 go 2 school, today i was coughing and coughing and coughing. i couldn't stop. well the teacher said i was disturbing the class with all my coughing. =,(!!! well what can i do to stop my coughing without taking cough syrup?

The constant rubbing (with tissue for example when you have a runny nose) will cause the redness and soreness. A good thing to use would be vaseline. It protects and has a cooling effect on the soreness. My best suggestion is to try and avoid rubbing your nose and instead dab. It will prevent the bottom of your nostrils from getting worse and hopefully start up the healing process to make them less sore.
2. You should explain to your teacher that you are not well which is why you are coughing. If you feel that they will not believe you then you should take in a note from your parents for the attention of your teacher which you can show him/her before class starts. Other than cough mixtures I've found sucking on something sweet will help a great deal. I'm not actually sure why it helps but it does ease the throat and the coughing a little. Over here I usually get these tiny sweet things from my mom (the size of pills) that are made from sugar (they are like crystalised sugar lumps) which are perfect because they are sweet and small so I can carry a little bag of them around withme in my pocket.

2. try taking some cough drops. take them with you in class, and when you feel like your throat is getting scratchy, take one. don't take too many though :)
XSugarPieX77 answered Tuesday April 17 2007, 8:24 pm: Ahhhh, sorry to read that your sick. Hmm, for your first question. To make your nose all betters, put some ointment, or bacentration stuff on your nose, i know, it might be gross, but ay, it works. Try to use super soft tissues so that your nose doesnt get sorer. And as for the coughing, deffinitly try sucking on some Halls Cough drops. Tell your teacher its not your fault that your sick. Let her know that your a little under the weather before class, and that you can stay home. I'm not sure what TAKS days, but I'm assuming their important. Drink some tea also, that might sooth your throat. Hope I helped! Happy Spring. Feel better!
LM answered Tuesday April 17 2007, 8:23 pm: 1. Vaseline. Seriously, there's nothing better.
2. Cough drops. If you don't like the taste, try Halls Fruit Breezers or even suck on some Jolly Ranchers or LifeSavers. Anything to keep your throat from getting too dry. Keep water with you too at all times. If your school doesn't like you carrying water, have the teacher sniff it first so she won't think it's vodka ;)
Also, take something like DayQuil before you go to school, and take a hot, steamy shower. Both will help with congestion a LOT.
