IMing Can you get into trouble for IMing someone?? If someone says thats harrassment/stalking when you keep IMing them with different accounts or whatever, what trouble can you get into for that? Can't they just keep blocking you? This kid said its harassment, but if they are setting their buddylist up that way that ANYONE can IM them, is that true? Thanks!!

Persistant messaging (even from different accounts and such) can be classed as harassment.
If the person reports you to the service (and they provided the IM name the harasser was using at the time) the company in question (be it MSN, Yahoo etc) will have records of IM numbers as well as the IM names they connected to with time and date stamps. From these IP numbers they can determine the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that the harasser was using to access the internet and can report you to them for misuse. The ISP simply check their records and see who was assigned the said IP number at the time/date in question and can then press charges if the situation is serious enough or simply kick you off their service for breach of terms and conditions.
It's a long process but it does work and it does happen (I myself have witnessed a similar case of harassment which led to the harasser being sacked from his work place for misuse of the Internet). ]
it's considered harassment...you can get kicked off of your internet server and possibly arrested if you're of age and the harassment persists and threats become known...if your at school you can get suspended or expelled for harassing another student...it's not as silly as your might think ]
if the person is unidentifiable then there's no way of filing a report for that person. however, if a person is aware of their harasser, then they can take it up with the school or an adult. ]
