I absolutely hate awkward silences, but whenever I talk to most people there are awkward pauses in the conversation or it's just....awkward. What are some things random things I can say or do so it's not as awkward?

Build off the previous conversation by usuing material from the previous one to propel it forward. If a mention is made of something that is slightly off topic, expand on it, make it the focus of your conversation. One thing leads to another and so on and so forth.
