hi, im 15, and im going to be 16 in october. i was thinking of having a poker party, in the most expensive room in this hotel-Ramada Jarvis, here in the uk. Do i need to be a certain age to rent a room out for me and my friends-about 10 of them? its going to have to be a double room as thats the largest they have. i wanted a bigger room with a big table but i think they are for everyone to use, like in the main hall. So yeah, anyway, do i need to be a certain age rent a room? and also any tips for the party will be appreciated. thanks

(Some, but very seldom, will rent to as young as 18 IF you're lucky.) But since things are probably different there, it's best to call around & ask. If you wanted, you could have an older parent or guardian rent the room for you, but they must be present @ the counter with a credit card & ID.
I am clueless on what the laws are like in your area, but just be sure there's no illegal activity going on in the room. If anyone sees a lot of kids running around, you'll probably get complaints, causing you to get kicked out. Tips for the party - don't invite too many people or anyone you don't know. Only allow a select few who are mature enough to be quiet & not cause any problems. Have fun! [ LadyH's advice column | Ask LadyH A Question ]

They will not even reserve a room at most places including the Ramada chain without getting your credit card number to hold the reervation. If you show up well after check-in or not at all your card is charged.
You can certainly have the party if your parents rent the room and consent or an older person rents the room. Having said that if they see you have a lot of "kids" with you and are all in room whatever they can kick you out because other patrons need their sleep or if music is on.
Also if anything happened in the room from under-age drinking, drugs, or someone said they were assaulted the renter is in trouble for everything that happens in the room. Hotels will also sue or bill the renter for anything that gets damaged or trashed.
Make sure the people you invite can be trusted. Make it a no-booze affair as you're asking for probelms otherwise. Although the idea of having a room to yourselves is great maybe you should have the party at your place.
The price of a room can be more than you think if anything goes wrong or guests call management or security about your room. If they find minors with older people and any drugs or sex or whatever is walked in on charges can be laid etc.
Odds are you hang out with good kids and they can be trusted. If you want the room you'll need to talk to your parents about it and negotiate terms and conditions or find someone old enough to rent it and want to assume the liability.
