Volunteer at hospitals is a great thing to get committed too..
Also there is a program called club Rec they may have it at a elementary school which is working with kids..
Also ask around at preschools or daycare..
they alway can use a extra hand.
Have you thought of maybe developing your own volunteer program that maybe evolves kids.
For example theres a program that involves teenage kids going to school and reading to kids or going to hospitals and reading to patients.
Perhaps a referee for youth sports.
Or take your favorite sport and develop a group for kids who want to play and that is also volunteering..
hope i helped

solidadvice4teens answered Sunday April 8 2007, 9:54 pm: There's always clerical or other work that needs to be done by somebody at a local hospital. There is always a high turnaround rate with local hospitals needing workers. Like the previous poster said I would put in an application there.
You should also consider senior's centers or retirement homes. They always have room for young people to come in and play games with seniors, chat and of big importance they need kids who will read to the seniors as well. That's always a position you can find without problem.
You should also call Easter Seals, Heart & Stroke, Cancer society and see if they have work for volunteers. They almost always do at their local chapters.
One of the best places of all to make a difference for kids, adults EVERYBODY is to go onto Mother's Against Drunk Driving national page and contact them about volunteering and being an advocate for youth.
Another idea is calling Habitat For Humanity and seeing if you can go to a construction site of their's and help out. The other idea is to call The Learning Disability Assoc. of America and ask to help out in any way you can. They always need help with clerical work.
Check out for American or Canadian Mental Health Assoc. chapters as they could use your help with planning events, clerical, advocacy wth youth etc. You'll learn a lot about dignity, grace and humility as well as bravery and prejudice from it. It's always a character building role. [ solidadvice4teens's advice column | Ask solidadvice4teens A Question ]
