On tuesday, which is a couple days away, my friend is having a mixed boys and girls sleepover with like 15 people and we are going to try to pull an all nighter cos we're staying in her caravan and there's hardly enough room for us to all sleep in there.
I am crap at staying awake, so I would like some tips on how to do it.
I thought maybe it would be best if I got lots of sleep so I wouldn't be tired on tuesday but then I thought that I would get into that routine and my body clock would tell me to go to sleep early tuesday night, so maybe I should start going to bed later? Or maybe I should just go to sleep the usual time?
There is going to be alcohol there, how much should I drink? It's a depressant so If I drink lots will it make me more tired?
And I would like to know how I can get into a normal routine after tuesday night.
So if you have any tips on how to stay awake then please tell me, and answer the questions above please. Thanks in advance, xxx

Red bull, and other energy drinks (like that one 7-up makes, I forget waht it's called) can make you stay up later if you drink them later on during the night. Frappochunios and coffee, soda with caffiene, the usual can make you stay up later. As for candy & sugary foods - they are only good to have when it's like, late. If you have them too early they'll make you hyper for a while, but then youre energy will crash and you'll be tired. So eat them later on in the night.
If your like watching a movie, try to sit up - but don't lay down because it'll make you fall asleep or become more tired. Try to keep your eyes open because once you close them for a little bit you'll probably fall asleep. If you're really tired & can't keep your eyes open, splash water on your face.
Try staying up later tonight, but not too too late. Then, get your extra sleep on Monday. Before you go, if your tired, you may even want to take a nap. Then, after you wake up, drink or eat something that will give you energy.

if you want to stay awake, don't just lay around and watch movies. you'll get tired! try to keep yourself busy so that you don't actually realize how tired you are, becuase when you sit around and do nothing, you're going to fall asleep.
energy drinks! my whole family is hooked on them. so far i'd have to say that monster's the best.
don't drink a lot of alcohol. keep one drink in your hand for awhile so that people don't bug you about drinking even more.
after tuesday night, you're going to be EXHAUSTED. i went a party and there were guys and girls there and we pulled an all nighter. i had a soccer game the next morning, and i was exhausted -i fell asleep on the way there. you'll probably be passed out no later than 5 o'clock. just try to go to bed earlier to get into your normal sleeping habits.
have fun! <3 [ leLovely's advice column | Ask leLovely A Question ]
XoXoXoXo77 answered Sunday April 8 2007, 6:52 pm: i think it might be a good idea to stay up kinda late on monday night and then sleep in late on tuesday. that way you wont be as tired on tuesday night. instead of drinking a lot of alchohol.. drink like soda or a energy drink when you start to get tired because it will help keep you awake. also, dont like lay down and close your eyes or anything because that will just make you more tired. try to keep moving or talking or sitting up or something to help you stay awake. if youre with your friends and having fun i doubt you will even want to go to sleep anyways. so you should be fine. you will probably end up sleeping late on tuesday then you should try to go to sleep early on wednesday because otherwise you wont be able to fall asleep and then you will end up sleeping late and it will just start all over again. have fun! peebles7 answered Sunday April 8 2007, 6:24 pm: ok first off, don't drink too much alcohol, you will fall asleep without realizing it and then have a bad hangover the next day. drink a little, whatever that's fine. the night before the party just get 7 or eight hours of sleep, if you only get 5 or 6 you will be really tired, and if you get like 9 or 10 you will also be tired once 1 or 2 rolls around. you could try eating stuff with caffeine before hand, such as chocolate or soda, that will make you wired. also, at the party, as long as it stays loud and you guys aren't just sitting around doing absolutely NOthing, you'll be able to stay awake. i find that the only time i'm tired at all nighters is when i'm bored, so just stay busy, listen to loud music, laugh, dance, talk, and you won't fall asleep [ peebles7's advice column | Ask peebles7 A Question ]
lbwhite89 answered Sunday April 8 2007, 6:23 pm: I suppose you could just get a really good night sleep the night before. And also before you go to the sleepover thing, drink coffee or coke or anything with caffeine to keep you alert.
As for how much you should drink...you're 13, you shouldn't be drinking at all. But I'm not naive enough to think you're going to listen to that advice...but if you get drunk you'll act...drunk (aka like an idiot...but everyone else will be acting that way too so whatever) and then you'll mellow out. And you could get sick, so try not to drink too much, you probably wouldn't make it the whole night unless you were puking or just feeling like crap. Alcohol affects everyone differently, so it all depends on how your body deals with it.
It shouldn't be hard getting back into your routine...if you stay up all day Wednesday and go to sleep at a regular time that night (or a couple hours earlier) and set your alarm to wake up at the time you normally do...you should be fine. If you get tired the next day just take a little nap or something to catch up on your sleep. [ lbwhite89's advice column | Ask lbwhite89 A Question ]
