If your anxiety is taking over your daily life, then that's when you should see a doctor. Your doctor will know what pills to prescribe you if that's what he thinks is best for you (yes, they're prescription.) Recent studies have showed young teens are suffering from extreme side effects as depression (which sometimes leads to suicide). So a prescription may not be good for everyone -- which is why it's important to talk to your doctor about other options such as psychotherapy & cognitive-behavioral therapy. I know that I used to have anxiety problems when I was your age, but I was never prescribed to any medication & it eventually went away. For others, they may have it for their entire life. As for an anxiety disorder being fatal? No, it's usually not life threatening. Your heart will race, you'll have difficulty breathing, & yes, it will sometimes feel like a heart attack. But it's more like a major discomfort. Although anxiety attacks cannot be prevented, you can do some things to lessen your symptoms: exericse daily, eat healthy, seek counseling & don't drink caffeine. You cannot die from anxiety attacks. You can get chest pains and have trouble breathing, it can feel as if you are having a heart attack. Get a paper bag, not a plastic one but a smaller lunch size paper bag. Carry it with you. If you start having trouble breathing, breathe into the paper bag. In and out, don't remove the bag to exhale. Do this until you calm down and are breathing normally. Shouldn't take long. Also stop doing whatever is causing you to stress out.
What you do when you get an anxiety attack is you hyperventilate. More info...Click search.
If you go to an emergency room, they will hand you a paper bag and charge you a fortune for it. :)
As for medication to prevent them, see your doctor. You can be given medication for it if it
is a big problem for you. I don't believe there is
anything over-the -counter that would help you. ]
You should probably see a doctor. IF the pills you are talking about are over the counter (like tylenol, ibeuprofen ect...), then you don't need a prescription. But if they aren't then you should see a doctor and tell him you're pretty sure you have anxiety disorder and he/she can give you a prescription for the medication you need and give you reccomendations like yoga, pilates ect...
As for dying im pretty sure that wouldn't happen, unless you have REALLY REALLY bad anxiety. i mean REALLY bad.
hope i helped => ]
