I yearn to make something of my singing ability. I'm inconsistent to the extreme and need to have more control over my voice. Are there any suggestions or websites you can lead me to?

I would definitely look for a vocal coach in your area...I've been going to one for years...they'll help you go over proper breathing techniques and help your voice to be the best it can be. They'll push you to your limits and expand them...it'll be helpful for you.

You can go to American Idol camp, go to American Idol (if you are old enough), go to a singing trainer, and more! Good Luck!

I take professional voice lessons. We do excersizes. We practice breathing, and the scale. You can do the same. See how high you can get, and eventuality, you will be able to get higher.
