On the SAT, I got a:
540 in Critical Reading
680 in Math
570 in Writing
So I got a 1790 total. Is this a good score?

well the highest possible score is 2400 and your score is 1790. the difference is 610. So you can decide if this is a good score for yourself.

Well now with the new system 2400 is the highest. Anything between 1550-1700 is qualified as average. Anything above 2150 qualifies you for some of the best schools such as Harvard and 1900 qualifies you for UCLA. You're just above average. I suggest that if you're not satisfied with your score to get a tutor or to take a few practice tests and take it again but to not cancel your old score.
