If you don't get it by age 17 or 18, then that's when you should be worried. You'll, more than likely, get it within a few years if your mother got it around that age. looloo12 answered Sunday April 1 2007, 7:38 pm: well let's see... you're still 12 so that means you're NOT 13 yet!!! so if you're worried you're not gonna get it then you don't have to til you're 14 and still it might be different for you. but if you're worried about getting it, it's not that big of a deal. all girls get it sometime or another so theres no use in worrying!
MAK answered Sunday April 1 2007, 7:33 pm: hun i got it at two days before my 16th birthday. you have nothing to worry about.
honestly, you should just enjoy not having your period. i was just like you, but now that i got it i wish i hadnt. it sucks. trust me. you have to visit the bathroom every 4 hours, constantly worry about whether you're leaking or not, AND you have to deal with cramps and sore boobs. LoveNJstyle answered Sunday April 1 2007, 7:30 pm: just because they go it at 13 does not mean you will. my mom got it at 13 & i didn't till 14 and a half. don't worry about it. when you first start it's not like it'll be so much that it'll stain everything.
PS-- you're not supposed to be on this site. until you are 13, just use www.beinggirl.com. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
exohhmelissa answered Sunday April 1 2007, 7:29 pm: Every girl gets it at different times. My mom got hers when she was seventeen. Its totally normal.
You have a lower risk for cancer if you start later...so that's a good thing.
its_melissa_DuH answered Sunday April 1 2007, 7:26 pm: hmm, why are you on here when you're only 12? don't come back until you're 13 you don't want to get in trouble LOL! kk well anyways, dont worry about it! if your family got it at 13, then chances are that you will get it at 13. some girls don't even start until there 16! just incase you start at school, always be prepared by keeping a pad in your purse and in your locker and also a pair of pants in your locker. even when you start, your flow isn't heavy at all! if you start at school without a pad or tampon just roll up some toilet paper and stick it in your underwear until you can get a pad from a friend or the school nurse. it's completely normal to be scared about starting but don't stress over it!
here's a really good website for you:
