what is doing art for art's sake

Hmm. I think it means you do something because you want to do it not because other people are doing it.

for example:
lets say you start to sing
but you do it for the sake of fame
not for the sake of singing.

I guess it is one of those morals. The moral of this is: do things because you want to. not because you need to
