Ok, well, this year I'm doing softball for my school. & This is my 2nd year playing softball on a team. Well, plain and simple: I suck. And, just about everybody on the team notices. I feel like quitting, because I can hear all the comments everybody makes. I really want to do a sport, it just feels like I don't belong or something, because everybody else has done this sport for more then 3 years. This is fastpitch-and I'm not used to that AT ALL!!!!! There's 2 snobby seniors on the team, if that helps [I'm a freshman]....& Sure, I do have some friends...just about 3ish maybe? It sucks.
To sum it all up, I feel like quitting because I'm not really good...& I'm being made fun of.
So my questions are:
1) How do I get better?
2) Should I quit?
...Any other advice is welcomed.
Please, Please, PLEASE, help...
Signed,
The girl who sucks at softball..

christina answered Tuesday March 20 2007, 7:21 pm: Don't be discouraged because you're not any good. You made the team didn't you? You have to be some good, or else they wouldn't have even let you on there. And besides, you're not gonna be MVP your first year of the sport.
Just practice everything you need work on. Pitching, catching, batting? Everything. Just practice it all, and the more you practice, the better you get. Practice makes perfect. It's an overrated & cliche saying, but it's the truth. You're gonna hear that for the rest of your life, but it's always gonna be true.
Don't quit though. If you quit, they're gonna know they got to you, and that they're always gonna be able to hurt you. Keep playing softball, and keep practicing, and you'll be really good in no time. =) Don't let them get to you though. Because they probably weren't good at it their first year of the sport either. =] [ christina's advice column | Ask christina A Question ]
aliciariveraxoxo answered Tuesday March 20 2007, 7:05 pm: HI! i undrstand exactly how you feel. I used to have a really hard time with well, people, i was made fun of and stuff like that, so i joined a sport, and i hated it. i wasnt any good, and i dint have any fun, so here is my advice. if you do not love the sport, dont bother. it is about getting better and having funn and if you arent having fun than you wont get better. so what you should do is join something that you do like, than , you will meet people that like the same things you like and are good at the same things your good at and you will have a much better time. i hope everything works out for you!

vomski10 answered Tuesday March 20 2007, 7:04 pm: alright well don't quit. don't let them make you quit. take it and use it as a reason to get better.
what you can do to get better is, maybe there is a sports place around that has batting cages and lessons, where i live there is a Field of Dreams. i don't know if there are any where you live, ask your friends or your coach and schedual lessons!
and about how your hands get sweaty. get batting gloves! but just wear one when your on the field (the one your glove is on) it helps alot with the sweatyness.
