Yo.
The only you really can do is just be there for her (or him) You could go to the mall and hang out with them or see a movie or something. You could make her cookies or something. Just hang around with her and stuff.

The only thing you can do for your depressed friend is to be there for him/her 24/7. The reason most people are depressed is because they're unable to share their feelings with anybody. Reassure them that you'll be there for them no matter what. Tell them if they ever need to talk you'll always be available. Listen to everything they say, even if it bores you have to death. Just so you know what to refer back to if they have more problems, you know? :]
