Fear of driving I'm 19 and have an extreme fear of driving. I have my license, but everytime I attempt to get over my fear, I end up having a panic attack and not being able to think. I am okay with side streets with no cars, but once I get onto busy streets with traffic, I'm terrified. I don't know exactly what triggers it, but I think it's because I'm afraid I'll blank out while multi-tasking (as in reading road signs/directions & staying aware of other traffic), make a mistake & end up getting into an accident. I'm not ADD, but I don't think I am capable of thinking about everything at once - if that makes any sense. I have to move out in a couple months leaving me with no choice but to drive myself around. I am just wondering what can help me get over my fear of driving with other cars? Thank you.

I would keep practicing, until you feel really comfortable. At the moment, however, I would suggest that you do not go on busy congested streets, because you could put your life, and someone elses life in danger.

Basically as scary as it is, the only way to get over the fear is to do it. To practice driving on busyer and busyer roads until you are used to it. At first you will feel tense and scared but once you feel yourself relaxing, thats when your conquering your fear. ]
i have the same fear but to get over it you must think driving not as somthing between life and death but just as a real life video game
i hope i helped

Honestly- then you shouldn't be on the road. Driving is all about being able to make split second decisions and being observant. The only way to get good at it is to keep on doing it. That's it. ]
