Someone recently told me that a girls break their hymens earlier these days than they used to. This is because girls play aggressive sports today and they didn't in 1920. In theory I think it's possible. If a man has put his penis in you it's broken. I think I broke mine by using a tampon.
A finger in the vagina will also break the hymen. I did not bleed the 1st time I had sex but it sure did hurt.
When you have sex you need to use a condom each time you have sex. Read the instructions that are in the box and use it properly. [ mitzi's advice column | Ask mitzi A Question ]

the first time i had sex @ the age of 18, i could tell that i had broken my hymen because first there was pressure, like trying to squeeze an orange through a quarter-sized hole. and then i felt a pop (that was the actual breaking of the hymen) BTW that part hurt really bad, like a really really sharp pain, luckily i was in the throws of passion, so i wasn't completely focused on the pain. and finally i bleed.
I'm not sure that you can check it yourself, maybe get a mirror and see if you can see anything... otherwise you could try looking for symptoms for hymen breakage. [ audra's advice column | Ask audra A Question ]

There are tons of ways hymens can be broken.
You could see if the tampon goes in easily- or you could hook up with some guy and ruin your life by losing your virginity to some loser.
