wounds

Question Posted Saturday February 24 2007, 11:44 pm

A few days ago I had a hard fall outside. I was wearing shorts and now I have some bad cuts/scrapes and wounds on my shin. They're not bad enough I have to go to the hospital or anything. But they're really ugly and now I can't wear skirts/shorts because it looks icky. What things can I do to make it heal really fast? Anything in particular?

When you first got the scrape, you washed the area with rubbing alchol right? If you didn't, you should because it kills the bacteria that may form in the area since it is opened. Cover the area with a bandage but occassionally remove it and let it breath for a while (take off the bandage at night.) Because if you don't- the wound won't heal (as fast) because with the bandage on- there is moisture and a scab can't form since there is moisture. A bandage will only protect the wound from getting infected but it will make the wound become harder to heal. So remove the bandage at night and let your skin breath so the scab can form.

The scab is something that forms to protect the injuried skin. Underneath the scab- new skin cells are forming. The scab will eventually fall off when your new layer of skin is complete.

Other alternatives are wearing leggings under your skirts to hide the cuts, so you're pretty much on the safe side since leggings are in now-a-days. but if you choose not to wear leggings, the only way for them to heal is 'time.' i know that sounds, well, boring. but its the truth. keep it away from dirty things and never touch it if your hands aren't clean.

Dont peal the scabs because then the wonds will get worst just leave it alone and let it heal on its own apply alcohal on it so it wont get infected and take good care of it applying bandages on the cut and wonds
