Well, my problem is that I can't let myself get close to anyone really emotionly. I feel like a put up a sheild to hide who I really am. I want to know how I might be able to let myself express me for who I really am. And this also affects me being able to get close to anyone in a relationship sort of way.

So get a friend a talk to her and let it out and then you'll soon find yourself opening up. You just have to put your mind to it. Like when your talking to someone you might not open up much but then after awhile then you'll find yourself opening up. You might also need to get to know the person. I hope everything goes well for you! [ kiran's advice column | Ask kiran A Question ]

if you see this situation in this way that if you open up your personal feelings and thought to anyone, you are giving the person the power to hurt you and also control your life...
humans always want to disclose their thoughts to some particular person not realising that if the person is trust worthy... even if one feels that the other person is trust worthy, you do not know if he/she takes you seriously or not... he/she may not realise the importance of your feelings and might make fun of it in public and that might hurt you...
i feel this is a very good quality, there is always a need to keep some things to your self. its better to remain a bit mysterious....
i dont know about your 'age, gender and the situation that you are in' that might help me to answer your question a better...
if you can provide this info and tell me a bit more about you i will be able to answer your question better... [ query's advice column | Ask query A Question ]
