tampons

Question Posted Wednesday February 14 2007, 8:21 pm

I feel really weird asking this lol but I need help. See I never know exactly when I'm going to get my period, but I briefly know around which time it comes. I was wondering, if it was okay to put a tampon in when you think it's coming soon, but you don't have your period. I dont want to get that toxic shock syndrome or anything like that, so if anyone could help me out that would be great =]

You shouldn't put a tampon in before your period comes. Now, I'm not sure if that is 100% true, but after some research many people have said that tampons should only be used during your period. If you think its coming soon you could put a panty liner in your underwear and keep tampons in your purse, locker, bag, or wherever just in case. They make them very thin and you can barely notice they're there. I hope I helped <3

From all I've read, the answer is no.

That link says so. It also gives information about tampon use in general. It's a government site, so you can be pretty confident that it's correct.

I guess it's ok, as long as you change it often so you don't get toxic shock syndrome, but it would be better to wear a pantiliner-those are made basically for your problem: you aren't sure if its gonna happen today, but you know it's gonna happen soon. That's what I would do =]

no i wouldn't suggest doing that. im pretty sure toxic shock syndrome is from the blood being stored though, not just from a tampon. basically its bacteria that's building up. i would suggest wearing a light pad or a pantyliner. here's a website-
