my life

Question Posted Sunday February 11 2007, 8:10 pm

here's the deal, i grew up in a upper class family and have bene kind of spoiled my entire life. and i like it... but the thing is i cannot live a life like that when i'm older if i'm not a) a doctor b) a lawyer c) a scientist, engineer, business, something along the lines of that! but i'm not interested in any of that. i want to be a celebrity, like a lot of other girls. but i know that cannot happen since it is 1 out of a million. or i'd like to be a fashion magazine editor (also hard), nutritionist, yoga teacher, makeup artist, etc.... all of the above either doesn't pay alot at all or is one out of a million. i don't know what to do. in order to become any of the "good jobs" i have to get into an IVy league (i know i don't have to, but there's alot of pressure). sooo, help?

A good job that pays a lot of money is always nice- IF it is doing something that makes you happy.

Having a high paying job and hating it would just make life miserable and unfulfilling. If you do something you completely love and only make $5 an hour, the material things in life won't matter, because you will be happy with life itself.

I guess that may not make sense. I don't know. I can say this- I long for a Corvette, but I don't want it if I have to lead an unhappy life to get it. I would rather drive a rust bucket, do what makes me happy in this life, and keep that dream of owning one some day.

I guess to make a long story even longer, pick a career you will enjoy doing, not a career that only provides and enjoyable paycheck. Money and material possessions aren't worth sacrificing your happiness.

If you really like those jobs, and that's what interests you, go for it. Those jobs actually do pay a lot. For yoga, you can become a famous trainer that every celebrity wants to work with to stay in shape. Celebrities make a lot of money. There are people out there worth millions of dollars, so don't doubt it. Nutritionist can make good money too if they know what they're doing. Makeup artists are good too. Fashion magazine editors are sort of easy to be. Try working at a magazine company as an intern & then work your way up. =) You can be anything you wanna be. If you're successful, then that should be all the riches itself. Don't be so dependant on money. Yes, it can get you a lot of nice things, but it can't buy you happiness & love.
