I taught my dog sit and lay down. How do I teach her to roll over?

Maybe give some free advice about: Pets? fish34 answered Friday February 16 2007, 1:14 am: It takes many small steps. Put your dog in the "lay down" position. Then (with a treat) put your hand around the back of your dogs head so that they turn away from you towards the treat. Then, gently press the dog to the side while moving your hand with the treat in the same direction. If your dog is submissive he/she should have no problem lying on their side. (Note: just this part could be a seperate trick all itself, eg. "play dead"). Once your dog is able to smoothly lie down on his/her side, with a treat guiding the dog in the wanted direction, gently roll him/her over on his/her back. At that point, your dog will finish the roll. Then give him/her the treat. While you're rolling the dog over you should be stating your commant "Roll Over". You'll have to repeat this process a lot so be patient and if it takes a few weeks, don't be surprised, and don't rush the dog. ^^ [ fish34's advice column | Ask fish34 A Question ]
LaceyIsPrettyBomb answered Friday February 9 2007, 10:42 pm: a good way to do it is to make her lay down, then hold her favorite kind of treat over her belly,far enough away from her head so she cant reach up and get it, and move it out in one direction away from her. make sure she doesnt get up to get the treat, but that she stays on the ground, because if she wants the treat bad enough, she'll have to roll over to get it. just like with the sit and lay down, it takes a longg time and a lot of repition. im not sure if that will work on all dogs, but thats how i taught my dog to roll over.
