Compaq laptop

Question Posted Monday February 5 2007, 7:59 pm

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on a laptop that I am considering buying from Staples.
It is a...
Compaq presario with AMD turion64
-1 GB ram
-80 GB hd
-15.4 in. widescreen
-8x dvd R/Rw superMulti dual-layer drive
-5 in 1 memory card reader
-quickplay
All for $600 after rebates.

I plan on mostly using it for school (Im 16) and leisure. nothing too serious.
I would greatly appreciate any comments that you have!
Thanks!

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I am very good with computers. This is a good computer, and Compaq is the best brand to buy, in my opinion. Many other brands, you have too much trouble with them in the beginning, and tech support isn't very well for most of them either. I've been on the telephone so much with other companies, it's insane. So I couldn't recommend any other computer brand more than Compaq.

Also, I too, I am a student, and I have an 80 GB hard drive, and it gives you a great amount of space for anything you need. And not a bad price, after your rebates either.

that's good for school usage, it'll be able to do everything but play 3d games. Something you'll want to note is that it's 64-bit, so it(probably) comes with windows XP pro 64, and a small amount of programs won't work with it.

I would advice waiting a sec on that purchace, seeing as how if you get it from staples I am sure they have uploaded the latest OS on it, and unless you want to be stuck with Vista for a while I would get an older one, from Tigerdirect.com or something.
