Gymnastics.

Question Posted Friday February 2 2007, 1:10 pm

Ok. I was getting really good at gymnastics about a year and a half ago, and I was starting on fulls. I could never get courage to do the backwards twist. I had already been learning how to do an ariel and a branny. And got those down fine. But when it comes to flipping backwards + twists, I fall apart. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get me used to doing the backwards twists?

Thankyou =]

Try doing back-bends over and over again, and every time you do one do it faster to where you will be more flexible so you will feel better when you try to do it.

Fulls are really easy when you get them. I got mine in 6th grade, then never did it, then took tumbling and now i have it better than ever. You need good layouts, ones that are high enough to twist from and ones that are hollow because you dont really want to twist when you've got a piked layout. Go on the trampoline and just do some halfs, like.. fulls are weird when you think about them. I can't ever do one in the water, but tumbling they are easy. Before I do my full I stand with my legs together and arms up next to my ears and just stay hollow and twist in my spot, like jump in one spot if you get what I mean. If I were you, I'd be on the trampoline trying halfs then fulls and just geting used to twisting on a tramp before you do it on spring or hard floor. If you need more explanation for tumbling you can i.m me at Skkatanic

Hope this helped,
Katie
