University of Texas at Austin

Question Posted Friday January 26 2007, 10:12 pm

15/f (freshman). I'm thinking of going to the University of Texas at Austin to get a degree from the business school there. I'm from Texas, and Texas high school students are automatically admitted into any state school if they are in the top ten percent of their class. My class ranking is 7 out of 355, and when I took the OLD SAT in the seventh grade, I made a 1110. My unweighted GPA is 4.0, and my weighted GPA is 4.3. I'm involved in various extracurriculars. I was wondering, if any of you have experience with UT or any state school, if I continue like this throughout high school, in your opinion, should I be able to succeed at the UT business school? Thanks.

Hey. Well first of all congratulations. 7 out of 335 is amazing =). I really appreciate high achievers lol. It sounds like you're a really high achiever (wonderful :D) and smart too. I definitely think you could handle yourself there if you set your mind to it. You should definitely be able to succeed with those scores. I really hope I helped and good luck! =)

Well, I'm a first year at UF this year and I did fairly well in high school. I was in the top 2% I was involved in a lot of clubs, and my SAT scores were average. I went through my first semester and did fairly well. It's more about your dedication to your work and your ability to not get too sidetracked with other things that will get you far, because you obviously have the intelligence for it. So, I say as long as you have your mind set on working hard, you'll be more than fine.

Good Luck,
Teacup.
