I think I'm an impulsive liar

Question Posted Thursday January 25 2007, 7:42 pm

OKay, basicly I lie about the stupidest things that aren't true. But everyonce in a while I'll say this HUGE lie that I didn't realise I was thinking of or saying until it's already out polluting the air. It really scares me and I don't know how to handle it. I've never told anyone about this... I'm just so confused and I'm really scared that I'm going to get myself into trouble...

PS> if you have any idea what causes this please help...

Hey. I had a friend who did the exact same things. People stopped beleiving anything she said even when it was true. It takes 30 days to develope a habit and that's exactly what lying is. A habit. Just try to get out of it (as you know). Think about what you're about to say if it's a lie and how it will hurt you more. You probably feel as if lies are more interesting but instead of telling them to people why not try writing them down? In the book "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" the teacher tells the girl to write down what you really wanted to tell people and make a story out of it. Who knows? You may become a creative writer =). I really hope this helped and good luck! =)

you should take a minute and think about your going to say. Maybe your trying to fit in? You want to be the center of Attention? Once that happens you really need to clear it up. I now its hard when it happens, but if your going to get in MAJOR trouble then thats the only option.
Before you open your mouth, you should think about what your going to say and what are the consequences of saying it, then once you think about all of that , you can say whatever you wanted to. If you are going to lie, its better not to say anything at all. Your just going to get in more trouble if you do.

it is always very important tothink about what you're saying before you say it. since you seem to do this often, the process may be more difficult. but when someone asks you a question that you're not sure how to answer or just don't want to, think about it before anything comes out of your mouth. if u really are unsure of how to respond to something, say "i'm not sure" or "i'd rather not answer". hope it helps!
