running

Question Posted Thursday January 25 2007, 8:39 am

i'm going to be doing a lot of running soon to get in shape for soccer. If anyone can tell me some breathing exercises to help me while i'm running thats great, and if someone can also tell me how to avoid getting a cramp in my side that would be great as well. Thanks so much.

Okay, first stretch and warm up. MAke sure you didn't consume too much water and fodd (duh) haha.

STart off with a slow jog and increase speed. Make sure you do the talk test. Make sure you can talk for a while without running out of breath while you're running. If you can't and run out of breath and start to get cramps, you're going too fast.

Don't push it because that's how you get cramps (along with insufficient amount of stretching and warming up and starting too fast)

And breath in twice with your nose and breathe out twice through your mouth and make it in rhythm with with your steps.
