the arched symbol i think ur talking about is when u play on a string move your finger up and down to give off a sorta dragged out vibrating sound

It means to play a tremelo. Basically, tremble your hand so that the strings vibrate.

that means to give the string that you are playing to give it tremblo aka moving the string up and down making a vibrato sound
