Question Posted Thursday January 18 2007, 4:46 pm

i turned 13 a couple of weeks ago and from my mums friend i got some mascara and eye liner, i really really want to wear them but iv'e always kinda been a 'mummy's girl' and never worn make up. she caught me out once when i had abit of eye shadow on and didnt really approve.
so my question is how can i wear make up and get my mum to understand that im a little more grown up now ?!?

When you're driving in the car or alone with your mom, casually bring up makeup. Don't flat out ask her if you can wear it, jus talk about it. If she doesn't seem very opposed, tell her that you were thinking about wearing some once in a while. If she says no, tell her that she could help you put it on, so she could control how much you were wearing, etc.
good luck! :)

hey there!

i used to be just like you!
my friends got me some make-up for my 12th birthday and so i politely asked my mom if i could wear it. she said no. well then i started to buy some make up that was very neutral like a brown eye-shadow, mascara and some lip gloss. my mom didn't even notice!!
so then one day i told her, oh my gosh mom! can't you tell i'm wearing make-up? and she said she couldn't. So i told her that I was 12 and i asked her if I could wear make-up that was just neutral colors and that i would wash it off at the end of the day. she said ok. then each day i added a little more color and then by the time i was 13 she said that it was ok i could wear make-up!

sooo yeah i hope you can learn from my lesson and i hope all goes well.

Hey...
If you want to wear make up and have your Mom approve I would suggest for you to stick with very light colors and don't pound your make up on, for example......You could use a very thin line of eye liner and a very skin toned kind of color for eyeshadow with a little bit of mascara. It may seem like a lot but trust me when you have it on it's really not that bad!
Hope I helped!
