Walking and muscle

Question Posted Monday January 15 2007, 4:11 pm

This is mostly out of curiosity, but I figured you would know.

I do a lot of walking as exercise, but I admittedly slack on weight lifting. Does walking actually tone the arms at all? I can't imagine it would, yet I at least seem to have more muscle tone in my arms than before I was walking. I'm not asking if this is the best way to tone them, because I know it's not, but simply if toned biceps are actually a bi-product of walking.

Sure- it's a cardio exercise and cardio helps to burn bodyfat all over. The same would be true whether you're running, using an elliptical, Stairmaster, etc.

Walking is a very good exercise and I urge you to continue to do it.
