I'm a girl who will be turning 16 in February. I'm a virgin. Do you have to go to the gynocologist if you're not sexually active and you don't have any vaginal or reproductive problems? If so, when should you start going? Also, how do you find a gynocologist? Thanks very much.

And I'm guessing that your family doctor would recommend you to gyno.. but I'm not positive. [ leLovely's advice column | Ask leLovely A Question ]

However, you really don't need to go to a gynecologist unless you have a problem. Your family doctor will usually do the necessary examinations in regular cases. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]

Your doctor should be able to recommend a gyno. [ linkinpark0651's advice column | Ask linkinpark0651 A Question ]

You don't HAVE to get an internal exam just because you turn 16. It is good to go before you decide to become sexually active though. They can get you on the pill, and discuss any questions you might have,
Plus make sure everything is in good working order.
If you want to use a gynecologist just look in your phone book. If you have a regular doctor who doesn't do pelvic exams, they would be happy to refer you to someone who does. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
