This is such a great question! I'm truly happy for you, and for wanting to turn your life around.

Becoming a Christian is not about going to church every Sunday, or doing good deeds, like many people believe it is. Romans 10:9 says "If you confess with your mouth that 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Voila. That's it! All God wants from you is your heart and your life, and it sounds to me like you're ready to give these over to Him. If you do this (and become baptized-- but that's a whole other issue) then your guaranteed life forever in heaven with Jesus.

Some people will claim there's a "magic prayer" that buys you your ticket to heaven-- there's not! If you haven't already, just ask God to come into your heart and be your Savior. That mean's you're ready to turn over your sin to God, be forgiven, and believe in Him. No rituals, no magic words, just being honest with God and asking him to come into your life.

Do you have to go to church? Well, technically no. Going to church has nothing to do with whether or not you're going to heaven. But if you've become a Christian, then most likely you want to worship God and learn more about him in a safe, spiritually-healthy environment with other Christians. Do Christians not have any fun? Heck no! :) I consider myself a very fun person, and I have lots of fun friends that are Christians. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing your definition of the word "fun" was no drinking, sex, partying, etc. And you're right, we don't. But do you think people who do that kind of thing are having fun or happy? I'm thinking no. Only Jesus can bring true happiness- "joy". We can still have fun and do things that honor God and are in line with our beliefs.

This isn't part of your question really, but I thought I would bring it up. Christians aren't perfect. We make mistakes, fall into sin, and screw up just as much as everybody else. But God offers forgiveness to everybody who asks for it, because his Son died on the cross for our sins, so if we mess up, we know we're not going to hell for it. :) And that means, if you DO get into trouble, make a mistake, fall into your old ways, you don't have to sweat it. Because God will forgive you if you just ask for it, and your faith will make you strong again.

If you don't mind, whenever you write your feedback, can you tell me your first name? I don't want your address or anything, don't worry. Ha. I'd like to pray for you if that's okay! This is an awesome decision that you're making for yourself right now, and I wish you the best!

This is so wonderful! The Lord can change any heart. Finding God means accepting His Son Jesus as your Lord and Savior. The Bible says in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life!" Jesus answered. "Without me, no one can go to the Father." (CEV)

Faith in Jesus is what saves you. Going to church is a place to gather with others who have that same faith. You will discover that fun is loving Jesus and being free from the weight of sin in your life. "Fun" takes on a whole new meaning when you repent and follow the ways of God. I have no doubt that the boy you mentioned is having fun telling people about the freedom he has and it sounds like your desire to be a part of that means you think it would be exciting.

I suggest reading the Bible and the best place for a seeking heart like yours to start is with the gospel of John in the New Testament. Read it expecting Jesus to meet you there. If you have questions, my column is always open. Ask away.

To believe in God, you don't have to go to church. Whether or not you go to church, has nothing to do with your belief in God. NOTHING DOES. Its a belief. No matter what you do/say, ect. will not effect your belief in him.

Thats really the only part of your question I think I can answer. But, I'm just gonna add a little...

If you believe in God, you don't have to go to church. You go to church to worship him and learn. You get hope and faith out of church.

I'm not really good with this stuff, but the people below me did really good.

Good Luck. :]

Why would you have to go to a church to find God? God is someone you have faith in for yourself, not as a member of any congregation.

You keep him in your mind, your heart, and your soul. THAT is finding Him. You find him in yourself, basically.

People go to church to celebrate their love of God and Jesus together. Other religions who attend church but believe in a different God or Higher Being, go to church for that same reason.

I believe, there is no specific way to live your life to get into Heaven. No one has a sure ticket to get there.

Everyone commits sin, I don't care who they are. That's why you pray to God for forgiveness. So don't beat yourself up if you think you have done something or said something you shouldn't have. Pray to God to help you be a better person next time.

I do believe that there are certain moral codes to live by, however. The Ten Commandments, my dear.

Just be the best person you can be. Treat others as you wish to be treated. Give those who are down a hand up. Spread words of truth and kindness.

Recognize that those who are made fun of are people with feelings just like the rest of us- they feel hurt, pain, and sorrow, just as you do. They feel joy and happiness, as do you. And if someone hurts their feelings, let them know you care. It makes a big difference in some one's outlook on life to know someone really does care about them.

Caring about your fellow man goes a long ways in making yourself feel good as well as those around you.

I'm not sure how you join the play. You may go to the church where they preformed and ask them how.

It sounds like you have been inspired by what you heard and saw. God is not a member of any church. No church has the copyrights on God. God is bigger than any human can comprehend. How, when, and why you find God, talk to God, relate to God, learn about God, worship God, or experience God is your personal decision. No one can prepackage and sell you God or define everything about God to or for you. This is your spiritual journey. Explore and enjoy it as you would learn and experience anything else you find illuminating and joyful. Keep an open mind and heart, but never stop listening to your own inner voice and never stop challenging and asking not only others but yourself. God is big enough to handle all our questions and loving enough to accept you as you are. Humans sometimes think they have to do or say something special to please God or conform to a religious organization's idea of what is going to be acceptable to God. You don't have to go into a certain building or utter scripted words to be heard by a God who is all-seeing, all-hearing, all-knowing. What you do in your own best conscience will satisfy you and what you do in your own worst judgement will discourage you in how you experience God. No two people will give you the exact same answer to your question unless they have stopped thinking for themselves. Bless you on your journey.
