Question Posted Sunday January 7 2007, 9:03 am

Is there a way on AIM to make a persons screen name appear as something else? Like if their screen name was 2jkgLJ and I wanted to make it, "Laura Johnson", can I do this? If so, how?

OKAY, I think you all are confused..Im not asking how I change MY screen name. I know you cant do that. I was wondering if I could make someone else's screen name appear as something else besides their screen name. Sorry its confusing and hard to explain..

i get what you're asking; you want to change SOMEONE ELSE'S screen name on YOUR BUDDY LIST WINDOW to their actual name or a nickname that you call them, so you don't forget who's screen name is who, or just because it'd be easier- and there is no way to do that.. that i know of, anyway. i always wanted to do that though lol.. but maybe if you put people in more specific groups if you can't remember them.. like, group them by grade, school, where/how you know them.. or maybe you can remember them it'd just be easier to have their own name appear, then i'm sorry, but i don't know of anyway to do that. hope i helped though? ♥

If you have aim triton you can do this. YOu click on the persons screename, right click and go to edit buddy. and the it will pop up the screename above it, it will say First Name ______ Last Name___ and then you can put it as whatever you want it doesnt necissarily have to be a name

I understand what you are saying. You just want to make their screen name appear as something else on your Buddy List and IM window, a nickname or easy reminder, such as Yahoo offers. Unfortunately, AIM does not offer this feature as this point in time. Baffles me that is isn't yet available, but perhaps in the next verision is all we can hope. :)

no. you can't change screennames on aim. you can make a new one..but you can't change it.
if you wanted to change 2jkgLJ to lowercase or uppercase letters, you could. but changing it to Laura Johnson..i'm pretty sure you can't do that.

If your asking if you can change screennames, you can't. You can format your screen name by going to My Aim, then Edit Options. But if you want a old sn and change the name, you can't. You can just make a new screen name though.

Edit-
You cant do that either.
