actually never mind my previous question, but i see where it says devices with removable storage but an ipod icon doesn't show up. 2 things show up and its something with a floppy and the other says cd-rw drive.. & thats it. do you know what the problem might be? thankss

Refresh the page if you can (right click-> refresh) If that doesn't work, re connect your iPod & close/reopen My Computer. It should work then.

If not, there could be something wrong with your iPod. You could a) restore it on the old computer, reload the music, then return to your laptop, or b) backup all your iTunes files to a CD or flash drive and upload them to your laptop. a CD seems like the more logical route, since you're likely to have blank CD-Rs hanging around but not a flash drive big enough to hold an entire library of music!
