ok so im about 5'3" and i weigh like 137 lbs. im a little overweight and i wanna loose 15-20 lbs and i was wondering if drinking a lot of water will make me loose weight. i also do exercise and my eating habits are pretty good. if water does make you loose weight about how many glasses should i drink a day?
I've heard that most people are dehydrated to some degree, though I honestly am not sure if that is a myth, or not. Drinking water shouldn't hurt at least.
As for how many glasses thats not something I would want to give you an exact number for - drink whenever you are thirsty, and maybe a bit more, or whenever you get hungry between meals. As far as I know you water poisoning isn't common or easy to do, but you water intake is tied directly into how much you sweat/urinate, and how active you are in a day. Run a few miles and you'll drink more. I wouldn't force yourself to down gallons at a time, just a gulp or two occasionally, sip on the water. Don't chug it like some Fraternity slob 10 minutes before the bar closes.

I actually lost 8 pounds in a week (and i wasnt overweight to begin with just not feeling great about how i looked, so recently i started eating smaller meals throughout the day. Eat meals with high fiber and whole grains to fill you up. eat about 5 small meals at most 250 calories a meal (thats how my mom lost 70 pounds). I did it by eating breakfast with 200 cals, lunch with 100 cals, and dinner untill I was full, but since my stomach shrank that isnt that much anymore. No I didnt go aneorexic. I just ate proportionately and I still do. YOu have to realise that there is no such thing as a diet. Its a lifestyle change. Oh and make sure each meal is atleast 3 hours a part or more.

xxoBriannax answered Friday December 29 2006, 11:55 pm: My doctor told me I have to drink 12 glasses of water a day (I have low blood pressure). As I am continually drinking water, I don't feel hungry and when I do eat, I don't eat as much. I've lost 7 pounds over the last month by just drinking alot of water. Its also good for your whole body and your complexion. They recommend drinking 8 glasses a day, but I drink five 20 oz bottles of water a day. xxlilreddivaxx answered Friday December 29 2006, 11:31 pm: Drink the average 8 glasses of water. That will keep you hydrated. Also, If you drink 2-3 of 0-1% of milk a day, you also loose weight(its true!!!) You should exercise at least one hour a day, and jog for at least 15 minutes. Eat out of all the food groups and you will certainly start loosing weight immediately. Also do not get obsessed on your weight. When you take your mind off of it, that is when you really start loosing weight. If you are a teenager, it might be baby fat, and when you grow, it will go away (that is what happend to me). Go to this website for eating healthy. www.mypyramid.gov [ xxlilreddivaxx's advice column | Ask xxlilreddivaxx A Question ]
ImFakingHotPink answered Friday December 29 2006, 11:27 pm: It doesn't necessarily make you loose weight. It can help keep you hydrated though. If it did than everyone would drink like billions of glasses a day. If anything too much water can make you gain water weight. Drink average amounts maybe like 5-8 cups a day but seriously.. don't go over it. You may gain water weight and beat yourself over it. Also try some green tea. It's full of nutrients and speeds up your metabolism. [ ImFakingHotPink's advice column | Ask ImFakingHotPink A Question ]
becca08 answered Friday December 29 2006, 11:26 pm: Drinking a lot of water alone won't help you lose weight. If right now you're not losing weight and you're a good eater, then you're probably not eating as good as you think you are..or your weight is good where it is. And if you want to lose some addtional weight, you HAVE to alternate with exersize every other day at least for a half hour. You won't see immediate results. But over time, you will see some results. So, give it some time! [ becca08's advice column | Ask becca08 A Question ]
