sidekick 3

Question Posted Wednesday December 27 2006, 8:15 pm

at first my dad was thinking about letting me get a sidekick 3, but now he's totally against it and said my phone is "fine."

i need to pursuade him so maybe he will let me get a sidekick. i have verizon right now and my phone is kind of like the side kick and has a keyboard.

my dad thinks im wayyyy too young to have a sidekick. im 14. yet all of these little elementary and middle schoolers in 5,6 &7th grade have sidekicks.

i really want one so bad i havent shut up about it since it came out, so i need good reasons. nothing about the keyboard because i have a phone with that

Okay, I have a Sidekick3, and I'm 14, so I think I'm pretty darn qualified to answer this question.

5 Reasons for Getting a Sidekick

1. Texting, Internet, and Special Features (games, rings, etc.) prices are so much cheaper You pay a $20 a month flat fee and you have unlimited text, unlimited wireless Internet, unlimited Instant Messaging, and a bunch of other stuff. It might sound like a lot, but it's impossible to go over so you never have to worry about those "Oh My gosh! How did you send 300 text messages in a month" moments ever again.

2. It keeps me organized. Unlike the regular phones, where notepad and the do-list and the calender were there but kind of sucked, the SideKick's Notepad feature works really well. Just recently, I wrote my entire Christmas list on there.

3. It can keep you better connected with your parents. I don't know about you but my parents don't understand text messaging, so the e-mail feature on the Sidekick is perfect for telling them important messages.

4. It's not trendy like other phones. Bet you still know a lot of people with Sidekick2s? I do, and people are still always like "Wow, let me see your Sidekick." With the Sidekick, you can keep the phone for a long time and never be embarrassed about how old or ugly it us. You might want to also mention to your parents that this means they won't have to buy you a new phone soon...

5. If you figure out how to work them, the camera and music player work really well. Now, if you don't already have a camera or music player, mention to your parents how buying you the Sidekick will prevent them for having to buy you either the camera or the music player. Everyone likes to feel they're getting a deal.

The response below is good too, and I definitely think you should offer to pay for half. Not only does it save your parents' money, but it shows you really want the Sidekick as well. No parent wants to buy their kid an expensive phone only to find they aren't using it.

Good luck! =]

Need good reasons?

They have a prepaid model, you won't waste anymore money with a contract

The price isnt that half. You pay for half, he can pay for have. Work out a deal.

Everyone else has one and you want to be cool.

Ever think that its just not in his budget? You're 14, you can start babysitting or clear tables to make some money. Then it will be yours.

Is something actually physically wrong with your phone? Then you could argue that you're entitled to a new one.

Which, technically, you aren't. Having a cell phone IS a privledge so that's why your dad is saying that your phone is fine.

You could always take a hammer to your phone, or let it get run over by a car. But then you might end up with no phone at all.

here's a list of it's features:

if you can't make an argument with these features, then you really DON'T need the phone, and it'd just be a waste of money. Since your dad changed his mind so quickly, it could be that you are having a financial problem.
