dying over dyed hair

Question Posted Wednesday December 20 2006, 5:26 am

I have to touch up on my hair colour. My original hair is growing out and it doesn't look nice against my dyed hair.

I was wondering,

1)is it alright to touch up as well as dye over my already-dyed hair?

2)Will it be ok if I use another shade of brown dye when doing so?

3) Will my hair be of two different shades of brown then?.

its fine to touch up on already dyed hair and it is fine to do two different shades. The only thing to keep in mind is to have the colors blend well together. They dont have to match but get colors that go well together like a honey brown color and a light brown. Sometimes this look can make your hair look professionally done because a lot of times hairdressers use multiple colors.

good luck!

I suggest a color very close to your real color. Maybe just highlights. But its also a good idea to maybe ask your hairdresser. Because that's one of the things that they love to help with.

I have also had this problem and the answer is yes that you will have two differing shades of brown what I did in this situation was just died my whole hair again and it blended in after a few days but there wasnt much of a difference anyway. but if you still have doubts after reading this then just go to your local hairdressers explaining the situation and they will defo give you free advice.

I have to re-dye my hair about every three or four months and although it's not ideal, it's okay. It's fine to touch up as well as dye over your already-dyed hair, but if possible you should try and find kits that are specially designed to touch up roots as they will damage your hair as little as possible. It is also fine to use another shade but obviously if you do that you will have to dye all over your hair, which means you can't use a touch up kit.
