Whats wrong with him?

Ok theres this guy lets call him Alex. About a month ago he used to never care what people thought, was always nice, kept secrets, and in general was a great guy. But see the thing was he used to always sit with me and stuff and be near me and everytimeI talked to him he always asked me like 5 times who I liked. I never told him when he did. Then one day he was the nicest guy ever so I told him who I liked. Lets call this guy Sam. Anyway so I told him Sam and see Sam is like a popular guy (im also popular and Alex was well.....normal srry if thats sounds mean) hes nice, good looking and has a great personality. Now Alex never told anyone but ever since then he's started to change. He's gotten very annoying, hes become a jerk, has a big mouth, loves to bug me and acts like he owns the school. And it gets me really mad. Its like he's turned into one of the guys. (i mean the popular guyss that act mean) hes never been like this but he's changing rapidly and when I tell him about it all he says it "I dont care what you think! Anyway you guys always make fun of me so whatever!" I NEVER make fun of him. I never have. Why has he changed so much?

I know this is going to sound mean, but this just might be a cry for help, or, a call for attention, whichever you want to call it ; you know what I mean, though.
He might like you, and he figures since Sam is popular and so-and-so, he might be thinking that if HE were to act like that, and that's the kind of guy you're into, you might start liking him instead.
I think you need to have a serious talk with him about this. Let him know that you really care for him and love being friends with him and having a great time, but he's acting different now, more meaner and you miss the Alex you used to know. You've just noticed lately that he's been acting like he owns the school and whatnot, and it's bothering you. Or just something similiar ; just let your feelings out and let him know what you're thinking, he needs to know what's going on.
So just have a serious talk with him and see how it goes and what he says and everything. Just make sure you have a nice, calm tone of voice, and make sure he understands you're not trying to be mean or anything, you just miss the way he used to be.

alex changed soo much because it may be a way for you to notice him, if u ask me i feel lyk alex really reall REALLY liked you, maybe even LOVED but its hard to know for sure but he definetly had feelings for you, and he feels lyk he just lost you to sam and that he may not have a chance with you so in his head he mayb thinkin mayb if i change it would get her to notice me or atleast talk to me ... that's my guess lol but hope i helped!!

and hes jealous of sam because you like sam
so hes trying to act more like sam.. since sam is popular
