short hair

Question Posted Sunday December 10 2006, 6:50 pm

i have shoulder length hair and was considering getting a very cute hairstyle i saw in a magazine which is a little below the chin with side swept bangs, but i've noticed that no guys seem to like short hair... everyone i've asked says they only like long hair on girls so i'm just curious why this is and if i should still cut my hair?

As a girl with really short hair, I can answer this one!

I used to have below shoulder length hair, then on impulse one day I got it all cut off to above my ears, kind of a boyish cut.

I found that it took a while for people to get used to it, but now that I'm considering growing it out again, guys are telling me to keep it short!

Guys will usually say they like long hair if you ask them, because long hair comes across as being more girly.

The way I see it, short hair shows off your facial features more, looks better with less effort, and shows that you don't need long hair to be cute and feminine.

My boyfriend bugged me for the longest time to grow it out, but when I showed him a picture of me with long hair, he changed his mind right away.

Go for it! You'll love it, trust me :P

Yes guys normally prefer girls with long hair cos its associated with being feminine.
But hey, as long as you look good, they'll like it. Some girls have long hair but they look like a lion with it. So it really depends on what suits your face and I'd say go with it if you really want it.

Short hair can also mean spunky, cute, outgoing, sexy and it can even mean feminine.

I'd very much like to get the hairstyle you want but I cant cos it doenst go well with my face shape. Just an additional suggestion, you could get a short hair cut which is sloping at the sides. I can't find a picture of it but I hope you know what I mean.

Anyway, just go do what you want to do. Not just guys, but everyone loves someone with their own opinion and style ;)

Guys do tend to say that they like long hair. What they say they like and what they actually think looks good is different. When talking about hair people usually stick with the extremes - long and short. A lot of the time though, someone's hair will be in between. Pretty much what this means is that anything that isn't really short is fine. I think that if it looked good in the magazine and if you want to do it, that you should. A guy isn't going to not ask you out because of your hair. You are the one that decides how you want to look. If you like it, that's all that matters. Liking the way you look will give you confidence and self-esteem which will attract a guy much more than the look itself will. Good luck! :)
